Good business management software can not only make every employee more efficient, it can replace the need to hire an additional employee. That’s exactly the scenario at NBS Commercial Interiors in Troy, Mich. The Audiovisual division has been using D-Tools System Integrator (SI) software from the onset, and according to General Manager Zac Sepanik, the efficiencies gained have enabled the company to avoid hiring an additional field team coordinator or project manager. The end result is an estimated $70,000 to $100,000 savings to the company.
“That is a benefit of saving almost a full-time employee to our team,” says Sepanik.
So how does the software enable such a deep efficiency at NBS? Sepanik notes that because D-Tools software is built specifically for the AV industry, it has features and functions for all the different roles within an AV team.
“D-Tools helps our business run more efficiently because D-Tools Mobile and D-Tools Scheduling help keep all our team members aware of where they need to be, and what they need to be doing, day in and day out,” says Sepanik.
He says the Scheduling feature is the “top of the list” in terms of favorite features of the software.
“We really live and die by the Scheduling feature in D-Tools. We believe that this is the best way we can keep everybody organized and on the same page,” he comments.
As noted, D-Tools Mobile is another feature that is vital to NBS’s success.
“We have a number of team members who spend almost their entire work lives out in the field; they are rarely in the office. We publish plans to D-Tools Mobile almost entirely, so almost anybody anywhere can get access to the same information inside of D-Tools,” notes Sepanik.
Lastly, another high-value feature of D-Tools SI for NBS is the ability to archive projects. According to Sepanik, the software enables the company to maintain a repository of all its as-builts.
“We are fortunate in that we have many longstanding clients at NBS. The ability to recall past work as we look to do new work for that client in the same space gives us a competitive edge. We know exactly the situation in a space so that saves us time having to do field verification,” says Sepanik.
